However, you get three meals a day seven days a week. You're going to get a little bit tired of eating there, but they have a varied menu. Oak Park Retirement Resort has a very caring staff and the maintenance is very prompt.
I have a studio apartment, and that's all I need. I have to go out and get my meals downstairs in the dining room. When you walk in the apartment, it has a kitchenette on the right side with a full size refrigerator, a sink, and some cabinets.
I really enjoyed meeting the other seniors, too. You have your own apartment with a little kitchenette, and it was not like living in just one room. The first one was big and had an alcove for your bed, a balcony, a big bathroom, a living area, and a little kitchenette, which doesn’t have a stove, just a refrigerator. They serve three meals a day and a snack. They have activities and take you places.
We started looking for a independent living community for Linda's mom. We knew we wanted to select some place in Katy, Tx to be close to us and we toured 8 different places. It was getting frustrating because none of them offered all of what we were looking for until we received a recommendation from a friend to look at Oak Park. From the moment we walked in the front doors and started the tour with Veronica we knew this was was going to be the #1 choice. The staff, the environment, the food, the activities, etc.
Oak Park Retirement Resort was more like a hotel. The main reason we didn't choose them was because they didn't have nursing staff available. It was great, but it's not the place we needed for my parents. The apartments were very nice and new, they're even nicer than my parents' current room now.
